Tell Us About Your Experience With The Academies Leadership Coaching Program

I partnered with The Academies to establish my organization’s internal coach bench and stand up an internal coaching option for employees. Without a doubt, we know that we learned from the very best. Of the organizations I considered, The Academies had the strongest base of neuroscience and brain-friendly methods, which we held as a high priority. It shines through in their material. Each framework, method, and insight in the coaching preparation program anchored to how the brain works, which helped us to work with the brain, not against it.

How Does Neuroscience Influence Your Coaching Style?

It comes back to emotion, which still seems to be a taboo

in the workplace. However, emotions are signals. Learning to work with emotion can unlock a deeper level of mindfulness, learning, and memory. Now I can help others get curious about the root cause of what may be shaping their behavior. The lens of neuroscience gives perspective that helps us work with what naturally occurs in our minds (oftentimes before we’re ever aware of what’s happening) rather than suppress or allow problematic signals to fester. The Red Zone | Blue Zone® concept from The Academies is an easy and relatable way to be thoughtful about what’s happening within, and what might be at risk without care and attention around it.

Would You Recommend Our Programs To Others?

Yes, without a doubt. The content [is] top notch, the neuroscience foundation is essential, and the coaching instructors truly lead by example. The great care to honor the ICF coaching competencies and build practice around them was useful.

I also recommend The Academies as a partner for corporate coaching programs. They were an outstanding partner in forming an internal cohort specifically for our business. They modified timelines, incorporated our leadership competencies, and planted real and relevant cases from our HR Business Partners to help the coaching practice tie directly to our in-house roles.

What’s A Memorable Win You’d Like To share?

Learning the Agenda, Awareness, Application coaching arc was immediately applicable and important, as is the Red Zone | Blue Zone® framework. But deeper than the tools and methods, the coaching instructors modeled remarkable coaching each and every session. I was reminded that some people can go entire careers, even entire lifetimes, without hearing some of the guiding questions that we heard regularly in our coursework with The Academies. The space to lean into that level of reflection and see what emerges is next-level.

How has coaching certification changed your credibility?

It has raised the standard for what we’re searching for in our own coaching programs and coach benches. We now have a different view on what we’re looking for, thanks to having certified coaches available in-house.

What Have Clients Said About Your Coaching?

When asked, “what went well during your coaching experience,” this client responded with:

Strong reflective space: The monthly sessions created a consistent, trusted space for reflection. My coach asked thoughtful, probing questions that helped me slow down, untangle my thinking, and see patterns in my behavior.

Clarity around delegation: I came in wanting to learn how to delegate more effectively. Through our conversations, I realized that my hesitation wasn’t about capability on my team, but about trust, standards, and identity.

Non-judgmental support: I felt supported but also appropriately challenged. My coach didn’t tell me what to do but helped me arrive at my own conclusions, which made the changes more sustainable.

Appreciation for coaching style: My coach’s ability to listen deeply and reflect back themes I couldn’t see myself was particularly valuable.

Long-term impact: The changes feel durable because they came from internal insight rather than external advice.

Anything else you’d like to share?

Learning to tame that advice monster and move into a truly curious space is a never-ending challenge, but one that I’m tuned to thanks to the tools and guidance from The Academies. I know that I show up in a more supportive way across all of my roles thanks to this shift.
