Here at The Academies, we offer two foundational coaching courses to help our students learn core coaching concepts and ICF competencies. We take a unique approach in our coaching education methods using innovative teaching models rooted in neuroscience, which sets us apart from other coaching courses. Our goal is to equip you with the tools, skills, and knowledge you need to be a successful coach so you can provide the best possible partnership with your clients.Â
Today, we’ll be taking a closer look at these two courses — The Academies’ Certified Career Management Coach Program (CCMC) and The Academies’ Certified Executive and Leadership Development Coach Program (CELDC). We’ll discuss the topics covered in each program, what our students can expect to gain from each course, and how the program can be applied in the real world.Â
The Academies’ Certified Career Management Coach Program (CCMC)
This career coach course is designed to give students a comprehensive understanding of career management coaching, including how to assess client strengths and opportunities, formulate strategic action plans, and measure progress. This is a 33.5-hour program that is completed over the course of 10 weeks and covers topics such as job search tools, interviewing, networking, career branding, and more. Students will also role-play new concepts each week and learn how to use coaching assessments, exercises, techniques, tools, and forms to successfully support their clients throughout the career management process. Upon completion of the CCMC, coaches will be able to confidently provide their clients with the tools they need to identify their ideal career path and make a successful transition into that field.
How to Apply Your Career Coaching Skills in the Real World
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, more than 40 million people quit their jobs in June 2022 to seek out better job fulfillment, better work-life balance, and better pay. Many of these individuals transitioned to brand-new fields and turned to career coaches for support and guidance during the process. Once you’ve completed the CCMC course and earned your Certified Career Management Coach Certificate, you’ll be able to help your clients navigate their career transition. You can start by helping them assess their current situation and identify their goals so they can successfully transition into their desired career path. Once your client has clarity on what they want to achieve, you can help them develop a plan of action for making their transition. You’ll be there every step of the way, providing support and guidance so your client can confidently achieve their desired outcome.
The Academies’ Certified Executive & Leadership Development Coach Program (CELDC)
This brain-friendly leadership coaching course is designed for those who want to help executives and leaders reach their full potential and achieve their desired goals. In the 10-week CELDC program, you’ll learn ICF core competencies and receive hands-on coaching experience using innovative techniques rooted in neuroscience. Our instructors cover topics such as Red Zone/Blue Zone coaching, emotional intelligence, leading with vision, team building, effective communication, and conflict resolution. We link our concepts to relevant situations and trends happening in this dynamic job market to effectively prepare you for any scenario. You’ll also learn how to coach clients through challenging situations such as organizational change or restructuring. This program is perfect for those who want to make a difference in the lives of others by helping them develop into skilled leaders. Executive and Leadership Coaching in the World
Once you’ve completed the CELDC program, you’ll be able to successfully help your clients navigate their leadership development journey, whether it is working one-on-one or with a group. You can start by helping them assess their current situation and identify areas where they would like to improve as leaders. For instance, let’s say you’re working with a client who is newly promoted to a leadership position. Using the skills you learned from taking the CELDC course, you would be able to help your client navigate this new role effectively by assessing their developmental needs, setting objectives, facilitating behavior change, building awareness, and so on. In other words, you would help them make this transition smoothly and confidently so that they can excel in their new position.Â
